The grants will help parents participate in a child-abuse prevention program, keep children enrolled in quality child-care, allow low-income homeowners to make repairs, provide Medicare prescription assistance for the needy and pay for free dental care for the poor.

St. John Health System has agreed to pay more than $13 million to settle allegations that it submitted claims to Medicare and Medicaid that were tainted by the hospital’s financial relationships with referring physicians, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday.
