Against the background of recent political developments in the polity, Professor Pat Utomi has called on President Jonathan to convene an all politicians summit to jointly look at the direction the nation is going, even as he pointed out that the nation is at a make or break point.”
In a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune, on Wednesday, Utomi lamented that instead of getting our politicians to sit down and ponder on the situation of the nation, “all we have is people running around, desperate for power without knowing what to use it for beyond personal aggrandizement.”
He lampooned all the noise about succession and zoning saying that “it is no more than asking Whose turn is it to do the damage?, “lamenting that what politicians were arguing about was essentially power and not progress.
Utomi pointed out that if the nation failed to make the right investment in youth development, it would breed a strong, young, and desperate youths who had no jobs and nothing to lose and who would unleash lawlessness and anarchy on the nation like in Somalia.
